Meringue Ghosts Recipe!

Make these sweet treats for your Halloween party guests, they're simple, tasty and ghoulishly good!

To make the meringue ghosts I used my favourite cookbook, The Meringue Girls and they're super simple meringue recipe here. Heres my top tip, use a little lemon juice to clean your bowl and whisk before you start to get rid of any grease.

Pipe out simple ghost shapes and bake until completely dry, they taste better the day after and leave them to cool in the oven over night if you can.

Using dark chocolate pipe out little spooky faces onto the meringues and let the chocolate dry.

My meringue ghosts haunt my Haunted Halloween Cake, spookily tasty! Perfect for any Halloween party!

How to make a Halloween Party Banner

Its nearly Halloween Party time! Lets party in style with my Halloween banner, heres how to make it!

You'll need:

  • Black, orange and purple tissue paper
  • Orange string
  • Black card
  • Gold glitter paper
  • Glue stick
  • Stapler
  • Scissors

Cut your black card into quarters then snip the bottom on each banner like this. Cut out your banner letters from the gold glitter paper.

Stick the letters onto the card and fold a lip into the top of the card so it can hang onto the orange string.

Theres tons of good tassel tutorials on pinterest but my favourite is this one.

Have a think about how you'll arrange your letters and tassels before you add them to the string. Simply thread the tassels on and staple the letters into place. You're now ready for your Halloween party!

Have fun making your banner, you could always make different messages or add different colour tassels and don't forget to watch a Halloween film while you make it to get you in a spooky mood! I watched Hocus Pocus while making mine.

How to make a "BOO" banner

For Halloween I wanted to add a little magic to Lux's bedroom so I made her a little "BOO" banner! Heres how you can make one too!

You'll need:

  • Cream or white cotton fabric
  • Black embroidery thread
  • Embroidery Ring
  • Short dowling rod
  • Black and orange pompom trimming
  • Scissors
  • Pencil

Cut out your banner shape and draw your "BOO" text as a guide line for stitching. I used a simple back stitch that doesn't take long to do and once your finished doing each letter tie a knot in the thread to finish it off.

Sew over the edges and flip over your banner and to sew in your short dowling rod.

Pin the black and orange pompom trim together to the bottom of your banner and stitch into place.

With your scissor score into the end of the dowling rod to create a little grove so that when you tie on the black thread to hang the banner it shouldn't slip off, you can also use a dab of glue just to be sure.

There you have it! You very own tasteful BOO banner that you can get out every Halloween!

You could also stitch other spooky messages like Trick or Treat, Happy Halloween or Something Wicked this way comes! Get crafty this Halloween!

Halloween Bat Booties DIY

Today we're making these cute and pretty easy bat booties, perfect for little Halloween feet!

You'll need:

  • Black felt
  • White felt
  • Black and purple embroidery thread
  • Tape measure
  • Glue
  • Scissors
  • Paper
  • Pins
  • Elastic

First off you'll need to draw around your child's foot on the paper to make the base template. Make sure your generous when drawing the outline, add about 1cm around the rim to allow for sewing later other wise the bootie might be a bit tight!

Once you have your base templates cut them out of black felt. To make the side panels, measure out the rim of your base and cut out 2 rectangles with curved ends like this.

Pin the side panels to the bases like this, you can trim the edges if they don't meet up neatly.

Sew around the edges using purple thread. Now sew two small pieces of elastic into the booties at the front. This will join the 2 side panels together and help the bootie stay on. You have your basic bootie, time to decorate!

Cut out small bat wings and eye pupils out of the black felt and eyes and fangs out of the white felt. Sew on the wings with the black thread and glue on the eyes and fangs.

I love these little booties, they're so cute! Sadly they won't fit for long as Lux is growing so fast but we'll get a lot of use out of them over Halloween! Happy Halloween!
